St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Grace Lutheran invite the Tomahawk Community to join them THIS Sunday, November 5, 4:00 PM at Grace Lutheran for a service of Common Prayer in commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.
The Roman Catholic Church and Lutheran World Federation have engaged in a series of dialogs over the past fifty years (the Evangelical Lutheran Church to which Grace belong is a member of LWF.) From Conflict to Communion: Lutheran-Catholic Common Commemoration of the Reformation in 2017 is a document along with a service for Common Prayer that names five ecumenical imperatives for Catholics and Lutherans. The Lutheran-Catholic Dialog and this service of “Common Prayer” are instructive and inclusive for all who long for greater cooperation in Jesus’ name. It is significant for those who caused division 500 years ago to invite all to join with us in prayer for God’s Holy Spirit to bring us together.
Join us in praying with Pope Francis and leaders of the Lutheran World Federation, with Catholics and Lutherans around the world, and now in Tomahawk for God’s Holy Spirit to stir us to greater unity in witness and service in Jesus’ name.
